Positive Behavior Support

AST offers positive behavior support (PBS) services based on the principals of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA).  The goal of our PBS program is to develop a set of strategies specific to the individual client’s needs.  The AST intervention team will design an individualized plan for each child based on the function of the child’s behavior.  Each plan will be designed with the ultimate purpose of reducing challenging behaviors to increase the child’s ability to learn and better access natural routines and activities.  In addition to developing and implementing each behavior support strategy AST will provide parents with tools and training to utilize these strategies across routines.

Positive Behavior Support services also emphasize the reduction of challenging behaviors by replacing them with functional skills and stress reduction strategies.  These are goals that focus on teaching new and functional skills.  The PBS program can teach functional communication, coping strategies, independent living skills, and social skills.  Through teaching these different appropriate skills the child will learn appropriate skills and strategies to get their needs met while also increasing their independence.

AST prides itself on having state-of-the art PBS programs.  We provide PBS in the home, school, community, and workplace.
